Sad news from the UK, concerning Ursula Windsor

Yesterday, I received the sad news that our dear Friend, and long-time New Foundation Worker, Ursula Windsor passed away two days ago (29-3-2015)

Even though this may not be the most suitable or appropriate means for sharing news of this nature, nevertheless, I feel it right to use our web site to let Friends now that this has happened.

We in the UK keenly feel Ursula's passing, because of her long and sustained contribution to our work. She was one of the last…

The Current situation of the New Foundation in the UK

The New Foundation Fellowship has been in existence since 1974, and has been active in the UK since then.

Some of you may have noticed that there has been a lack of New Foundation activity in the UK for over a year. You may also have noticed that there has been neither a recent newsletter nor edition of New Foundation Papers.

As one of the long-standing members of the UK…

On Being a Quaker Minister By Michael Langford

ON BEING A QUAKER MINISTERAll Friends that know the light, which is the life in Christ, be faithful in the truth, and spread it abroad; answering the light of Christ in everyone (George Fox, Epistle 337). There are many forms of ministry and each person in a Quaker meeting will have his or her own form of service.  My subject here is the prophetic ministry of the spoken word.  Anyone may be given something to say during the meeting for worship.  Our worship takes place under the discipline of…See More

Hi Alistair, great to be back.  Things at Scholes are same as always really.  We had a fairly unsuccessful Quaker Quest mainly because it was taken over by a devotee of Krishnamurti who felt that there should not be an overtly Christian imput.  We therefore had a lot of people who came the first week expecting a form of Christianity - got Krishnamurti instead and didn't come back!!!!

Paul is more of a Universalist Quaker so for him at the moment NFF is not the right place for him to be.

Greetings to you all

Emma

Friend,

Is it always this quiet here on NFFQuaker?

At 18:54 on 7thMo. 20, 2011, Allistair Lomax said…

Hi Bradley, yes, it is. We are a relatively small group of people and as a consequence, there is not as much activity as I would like. Also, I think we are still getting used to having this kind of medium with which to preach the Gospel. Hopefully, that will change as people get more used to using the site. How would you feel about us establishing a forum on NFFQuaker aimed specifically at newcomers and creating space for people to ask questions about the faith of Early Friends?

Allistair,   I am sorry if this is not a public conversation here and I should not be putting in my two cents (don't know the British equivalent for the expression). I think this would be an excellent idea. I have been wondering about having something of the sort.

We could call it the "Bull and Mouth" or "The Threshing Floor"

hi Alistair

thanks for your message.  We are currently worshipping at our local RC church for lots of reasons.  however, eventually I think we will return to worshipping simply at home.  We will never return to BYM while it is as it is.  We only pray that somehow the Light of Christ convicts them.  We understand that membership is dangerously low, so perhaps that will persuade them to turn back to Christ.

A brief introduction here I am Lewis Hein from Casper, Wy, (son of Ellis Hein). I hope not to be too sporadic with my participation here, though I haven't really been prompt introducing myself. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, birdwatching, and nature photography. I find the message of the Early Friends to be quite profound, and have been helped by it many times along my way

Thanks for the invitation, Alistair. I do wish you every success, but it is long way for me and expensive on petrol so will remember you prayerfully.
