Allistair Lomax left a comment for Richard Alexander FairleyHello! This is just a short profile to get started with which I intend to expand upon...
I am 45 years of age, Scottish and currently live in the rural village of High Spen in the county of Tyne and Wear.
I have been a religious 'seeker' for most of my life; I read Philosophy at the Universities of Dundee and Aberdeen and was a novice Benedictine monk at Ampleforth Abbey (!).
However, I felt I'd come upon my spiritual home when I discovered the Quaker way - and, as a traditionalist-minded Christian, quickly became drawn to the 'Wilburite' conservative expression of the Friends. Although attending my local Meeting in Stocksfield, Northumberland I have applied to affiliate with the Ohio Yearly Meeting.
I will supplement this 'bio' with further info in time...
In Christ!
Allistair Lomax said… Hi Richard, welcome to the NFF web site and online community.
It would be great to hear from you and learn a little about your spiritual background. Greetings and welcome.
Incidentally, I shall be in Sunderland for the week, next week. If you are not too far away and mobile, there may be a possibility to meet for worship and fellowship?
Richard Alexander Fairley said… Hi, Allistair and Ellis - and everyone else here!
Many thanks for your warm welcomes! I feel privileged to have been accepted into this community and looking forward to your fellowship in Christ as I take my first steps as a traditional Quaker.
Allistair, it would be great to meet up with you in Sunderland, if possible! I am reliant on public transport but there is a Metro train from Newcastle to Sunderland that I might be able to get if we can schedule a date/time and rendezvous site...
Thanks again!
The NFF exists to preach the Christian Message that was proclaimed by the Early Friends. Christ has come to teach his People himself
