Reproclaiming the Everlasting Gospel

We all need a refuge from stress and severe distraction; a retreat where we can withdraw for a time from life’s problems, so that when we return, they feel more manageable. This is God’s intent for the Sabbath.

Rest, in the Old Covenant, meant a special day when people were supposed to pause in their outward work. But how do we pause in our duel with the stresses of daily life?

The visitation of God, directly to the soul, in the person of Jesus Christ, is our Sabbath. The presence of Christ within us is our shelter—the power greater than all the demands on our energy and attention that life hands out.

Inherent in the promise, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you,” [Mt. 7:7] is that God will give us the rest we need.

Hello Rebecca:

An interesting metaphor about Christ as the Sabbath we seek, such a simple Truth.

#4 of the Ten Commandments is "Remember the Sabbath and Keep it Holy", a phrase to remind us that specific moments or periods of time should be set aside for communing with the Creator.

How often might we engage the Sabbath in everyday life?

What personal power might be regained by reconnecting to the Holy within us all?
