Basically it is very hard to find, and when you do, you have to join up to be able to even read it. For this reason it does not act as a very good Quaker outreach tool.
Nik Dadson of Quaker Communications at Friends House sent out a round-robin email in January suggesting that the forum might be closed down through lack of use. The users deny the lack of use, and are saying it…

THE SLIPPERY SLOPE
I don't feel that our planet needs saving. I think it would regenerate very nicely without us, thanks. Viewed from outer space, the human race is just a parasitical infestation. But there is a difference between a parasite and one of us. A parasite has no concept of the future or the effects of its actions. We have a conscience..... a soul.... a concept of consequence and time. Or at least some of us do. But there are many who deny their consciences and…

I have found great comfort and deep wisdom in A&Q 5 this weekend:
5. Take time to learn about other people's experiences of the Light. Remember the importance of the Bible, the writings of Friends and all writings which reveal the ways of God. As you learn from others, can you in turn give freely from what you have gained? While respecting the experiences and opinions of others, do not be afraid to say what you have found and what you value. Appreciate that doubt and questioning…

I took the dog for a wander past the Quaker Meeting House, that I can see from the window of my new flat on the outskirts of York. Outside was a poster of Jocelyn Bell Burnell, the astronomer who discovered pulsars. She is also a lifelong Quaker.
I was concerned that as a scientist, she would probably be another Quaker non-theist, and having her face on the meeting notice board did not bode well for me worshipping there amongst like-minded Theists.
I googled, and found…

Emma Green said… i'm sure you would be very welcome. We are meeting of mainly older folk but by and large Christ centred. The general feeling in the rest of Brighouse Area meeting is that we are a bit odd!!!!!
Perhaps Paul and I will come and visit your boat in the summer.
Enjoy the lockeepers cottage

Emma Green said… Hi, I'm afraid we have now left BYM. In the end we couldn't cope with the aparent lack of Christ centred fellowship in the wider Quaker Community. The end came for me when at the end of a conference about how to inspire small meetings, a lovely Welsh Quaker stood up and ministered that he hadn't heard God mentioned all week. he was shouted down and booed - poor man. That was the end for me. I thought Quakers were meant to be tolerant? We have gone back to our Catholic church but I do miss the Quaker ministry and feel able to keep up with NFF.
I think that is very sad, Emma, that any Quakers could be so intolerant. But, if the intolerant Quakers were non-theist, doesn't that tell you something?
I have been absent from this site for a long while. Wasn't sure where my roots were any more, but I've now been shown that they are with the NFF, so here I am again.

Malcolm Winch said… Dear Tone,
I have been intending to contact you for some time.
My Son and Daughter in Law, like you. cruise the waterways of Britain. I will shortly be seeing them at Boroughbridge Yorkshire, where they are moored at present. My limited experience- through them- of life on the waterways shows me that the "cruisers" are the nearest I have come across to a christian community. The help they give to each other is an example to the World.
The Christian Friend,
Malcolm
Malcolm Winch said… Tone,
I am very enthusiastic about your proposal that we carry out a survey of meetings. It is something that could be discussed at Woodbrooke.
If you are not going to Woodbrooke, perhaps we could meet up, a little later, in York.
Thy Christian Friend,
Malcolm
The NFF exists to preach the Christian Message that was proclaimed by the Early Friends. Christ has come to teach his People himself
