Please feel free to contribute and ask questions as you feel comfortable
Hi Emma, You may perhaps know several of the people on this site, as a number of them are from the U.K. I am from the U.S. and don't think we have ever met. I was in the U.K. in 1987. Anyway, welcome to the group.
I always appreciate knowing something about new people, so anything you would like to share about yourself, why you are interested in the work of the New Foundation Fellowship, etc. would be weldome.
Emma Woolliams said… Thank you for the welcome. I don't actually know anyone personally (at least yet) as I'm new to this group.
I was brought up as a liberal Quaker in Britain Yearly Meeting and stopped attending for various reasons in my early 20s. About 2 years ago I had an experience I can only honestly describe as God telling me to return to Quaker Meetings - and since then I have been attending a liberal meeting here.
However in parallel with that I have felt myself drawn to Quaker-Christianity (or Christian-Quakerism?) and I'm hoping to develop that through this Fellowship.
Regarding Quaker-Christianity or Christian-Quakerism, if you read my recent blog post on this site, you will know where I stand. At least, I hope one can read that and know.
I grew up in an Evangelical Friends Church (somewhat opposite on the spectrum from liberals) and was commanded to come out. "Ellis, it is enough. Come out from among them." Much like Abraham leaving Ur. If you are seeking fellowship with people involved with the New Foundation Fellowship, Allistair Lomax can probably put you in touch someone close by. I realize that "close" in a British context may be quite different from what I would mean in a Wyoming context. You can hash that out with Allistair. The British NFF also have periodic gatherings which you could attend.
Anyway, I hope you find interesting material on this website and will feel encouraged to ask questions, make comments on blogs, or put up posts yourself.
The NFF exists to preach the Christian Message that was proclaimed by the Early Friends. Christ has come to teach his People himself
