Firbank Fell - what does it mean for us today?
The event of Fox preaching to and reaching over 1,000 seekers on Firbank Fell is something that is deeply embedded in the Quaker consciousness. The New Foundation Fellowship believe that the Quaker message is for all times and all people. Please join us to consider how we continue this work.

Comment by Malcolm Winch on 4thMo. 17, 2012 at 0:47 I am looking forward to gathering with N.F.F. members at Britain Yearly Meeting. Yet I cannot help thinking "what has BYM got to do with me?"I want to get on with being a Quaker, developing an awareness of the Everlasting Gospel, and making it known to the World. Last year I ventured to BYMG at Canterbury and sat through the Swarthmore Lecture. After being told that it was a great event to be approached in a spirit of reverence ('no applause please') I was subjected to the greatest book plug in history. The fact that the book sale tent would be open until late to facilitate sale of the book connected with the lecture was mentioned at least six times. God was not mentioned once; neither was Jesus.
Comment by Allistair Lomax on 4thMo. 18, 2012 at 20:51 Hi Malcolm, what you have said, often sums up my feelings as well. We have found though, that maintaining a presence in BYM is a useful witness, and we often come accross tender folk, who have gone on to appreciate our work. For me, BYM = 'The World', and I see our presence at BYM, among other events as opportunities to preach the Gospel. From a personal point of view, I'm happy to be 'in it but not of it'... If that helps?...
Comment by Malcolm Winch on 5thMo. 18, 2012 at 15:26 Three Friends from London have agreed to join us at Friends' House on 5th Mo.26th. All are interested in using the occasion to discuss the future of Christian Friends in London and the South East. This follows what was agreed during our recent gathering in Ripley. We pray that God will look with favour upon our work.
